Exercise Competition Details

Dear Lunch Pale, Mike, Twoderful, and the Momma of all Twoders

Here are the details for the exercise competition:
Start date: August 13, 2012
End Date: September 30, 2012

Come up with a cool team name and a goal (This goal could be anything exercise/health related. Here are a few suggestions: calorie counting, eating less of sugars or fats, eating more fiber, or whole wheat or fruit, doing 20 pushups, running 1/2 a mile, going for a bike ride...the goal can really be anything. Get creative and make it a challenge for you)
For this exercise competition we are keeping track of how many total hours we exercise. We also are keeping track of bonus points. We earn these bonus points by completing our specific goal. Every day this goal is completed, a bonus point is kept track of which means an additional 15 minutes is added to the score.
For example:
Monday August 13, 2012
Exercise time: 1 hour
Bonus goal completed? Yes
Total time: 1 hour 15 mins

Tuesday August 14, 2012
Exercise time: 30 minutes
Bonus goal completed? No
Total time: 30 mins

etc, etc....make sense?

Mid-way check in date: September 1, 2012 On this date we will all tally up our scores from August 13-August 30th. When posting your score, write the following information (I figure we might as well use the blog foor updating info):

Team name:
Hours completed of exercise:

...and whatever else you would like to add (such as bragging about your awesomeness...!)

The competition will end September 30th. On this day we will also post our team name and hours completed. Then, (the best part!!!) the winners are determined and the loosers send the winners a card or a letter in the mail saying how awesome they are for winning!

That's all, so to get started post your team name and specific goal. Each one of you can have a different goal, or it can be the same goal for both of you. So...here is my team name and goals:

Team Name: Hairy Man Belly
Dish Towel's Goal: 50 sit ups every day
Mike's Goal: 50 sit ups every day

What think ye...?

Having a baby is a miraculous thing. Your body goes from this
to this...and somehow lives through it!

Your hormones also go from this

to this and...somehow our dear husbands live through it!

But something that your body does not do so well is change from this
to this.

Somehow, 2 months after having this baby, my belly still looks something like this. (minus the hair. I promise preganancy did not make me grow belly hair)
I've made it back to my pre pregnancy weight, but not quite my pre pregnancy shape (aparantly having a baby is a big deal for the body...)
I've been exercising here and there and been doing really good...well, really good on some days. Most days I seem to find myself forgetting, not finding time, or not making exercise a priority. I didn't think it was too huge of a deal until realizing it has been 2 months-2 MONTHS and I still have some extra belly flub going on. I was just realizing that if I wanted it competely gone, some serious action would need to take place.

Does everyone remember  when we used to have exercise competions? We would do it separately, or keep track in teams and then in the end the winner(s) would win something stupid like a handful of nickles. Do you remember that? Well, I always found it fun a really really motivating. I thought: Dang! I need apartment 30 to help me loose weight!

So...what think ye? Do we want to organize another exercise competition, and if so, who wants to participate, how should we do it (individually, on teams with other apt 30 girls, or on teams with someone who lives close to us) what should the incentive be, and how do we reward the winner(s)? Here are some of my thoughts:

-I really loved being on teams with another apt 30 girl. It was really fun to secretely keep track of our exercise hours.
-It also is a challenge to split into teams, because it's difficult to put together completely even teams.
-I think it would be motivating to have someone we live with, or close to, as a team member, since it is always a motivator to have someone there pulling you out of bed when ya don't have the desire to do it.
-I loved having a prize. The nickle one was perfect cuz it didn't break the bank and for some reason it was SUPER motivating, even though the winner only won something like $1.20. Since when is that motivating? Since apartment 30 is that motivating!!!
-If we do a prize, how would we get it to the winner? We don't live close to each other, so we can't just hand over our nickles, or whatever else the prize is.
-It's sorta become tradition to eat at Jason's Deli on Conference weekend since that is when a lot of us are in town, we could have that as the goal time for a competition, and bring the prize there (but we would still probably want to make it mail-able in case the winner can't meet us there)

In conclusion, I think this would be a good idea/starting point. (Tell me what you think, give me additional ideas.)
I think we should do 2 teams. This way we can be on a team with apartment 30 girls as well as our husbands, boyfriends, sisters, mothers, and other close friends. This is also easier to make it more evenly matched (I think...maybe not, but whatever). I also think the prize should be mail-able (nickles may end up being on the expensive side to mail seeings that they are kinda bulky). I was kinda thinking that loosers buy ice cream at Jasons Deli (since the ice cream is free! haha. Just kidding, but funny, yes?) I really am terrible at coming up with a prize for the winner(s), so help me out here ladies!
The next Conference weekend is the first weekend in October. This gives us about a month an a half to exercise. I think by time we get going, this will be perfect for a short exercise competition. So, I think the time span should be between now and then.

Those are all my thoughts, so let me know if you want to participate and what your thoughts are (especially for the motivation/incentive/prize).
That's all! Hopefully with the help of apartment 30 my belly will get back to the shape it used to be in! Haha! (No more hairy man belly! Haha!)

Dear Lunch Pale and Twoderful (well...and everyone else too. I just think Lunch Pale and Twoderful will remember this more than anyone else)

Think back to a time a long long LOOOOONG time ago. It was the moment where I got my name (Dish Towel). Do you remember this moment? I hope you do, cuz I'm not going to write this moment on here for public eyes to witness....if ya know what I mean. So anyways, due to circumstances, I received the name Dish Towel.

Well....
I am pleased to announce something exciting in the world of Dish Towel. Due to recent circumstances, I no longer qualify for the name Dish Towel. No, I do not wish to change my name, I just wish to boast. Are you ready for this...?

Dish Towel (now keep in mind the situation a long time ago and recent changes that have occured in my life), I no longer meet the qualifications for "Dish Towel." Instead, I qualify for the status of...(DRUMROLL.....)...Dish RAG!!!

Get it?
Well...I hope you do. I felt this was a blog-worthy thing to share, but a little bit difficult to share with apartment 30 without sharing to the whole world.

So...if you don't understand a word that I just said, well...just text me or call me or message me on facebook. But don't you dare think I'm going to explain things in depth on here. That would spoil the secret to the meaning behind my name. Haha!

Signing out, Dish Towel :)

What's in a name?

Because of where I work, I see names all day, every day. It's just what I do. And occasionally there is a name that stands out above the crowd, even if they gotta shout out loud. (Lunchpale, that was for you.) Anyhow, here are the ones of late:

1. Sir Jaxon King (That is the name, the entire name, verbatim.)

2. Crickett (The first name for a girl.)

And my personal favorite.

3. Jag Warr (Say it out loud, it's better that way.)

Thank you for reading. I'll be here all week!

P.S He'll be coming round the mountain when he comes!! (That's a shout-out to Zombie fyi!)

P.P.S Dear Dishtowel. Your next!

Harry Potter or Harry Otter...?

Yes, that's right. Harry Potter is everywhere....even at the aquarium. I saw this T-shirt in the gift shop and just had to take a picture and post it on here. Because when I think of Harry Potter, I can't help but think of Apartment 30 and the mild obsession some of the residents have of this topic. Haha.
With love, Dishtowel :)

YOU WILL WANT TO READ IT!

A while ago I was having a conversation with a roommate. I was so giddy with the whole conversation, I was about to burst. So you can all experience the giddy-ness of this conversation, I would like you to do the following:

1) Pretend your Birthday is June 18
2) Pretend like you are actually having a conversation with me.
3) Uh...read the blog post. duh! tee hee.

Me: "Is your Birthday June 19?"
Roommate: "Nope."
Me: "Bummer! I always seem to get it wrong...Is it on the 18th?"
Roommate: "Bingo!"
Me: "Well sweet! I have super cool news for you!!!"
Roommate: "Well then tell me!!"
Me: "Oh, ok. I have the BEST Birthday present for you EVER!"
Roommate: "Why don't you just give it to me for Christmas?"
Me: "Well...I thought about that, but it's just the perfect Birthday present. So I think I'll give it to you for you Birthday."

PAUSE! What I really wanted to say was this: "Well...I thought about that, but it's just the perfect BIRTHday present...cuz guess what!?!?......"

Nostalgia

I was looking through pictures and feeling very nostalgic.  I miss Apartment 30!  I think we should all live in a cul-de-sac of sorts where we share a common living area but all have a separate home part for our families when we get older/right now.
I miss the quote boards, quote ceiling, getting ready for dances, making fun food, photo shoots, road detours, pinatas, and all the other crazy things we would do.
ba ha ha ha ha

Frozen Olives: Another good idea gone terribly wrong because Twoderful and I got distracted (not difficult to make happen).

Day Trip to Ogden

Lasers?  Yes, Please.  Don't worry that this set of lasers catapulted the concept of lasering Twoderful's Mom's living room.  Epic.

Karaoke.  Institute Dances.  Enough Said.

Quote Board.  Pete.  Couches (remember how we had a broken one. . .).  Easter Egg Hunt.

Dish Towel dropped a cone inside the car.  This was the backup cone which then was held/eaten outside the car on the ride home from Jason's Deli.
It is fun looking at these pictures because there is so much more going on in them than just the basic shot.  ie: any picture that includes the kitchen sink would also include "Drink" and "Drunk".  Reading the quotes on the board.  Seeing certain objects on the tables or hanging from different areas or whatever.
Great memories were made and I am so glad I have pictures to help me remember.
Thank you!  I meiss you all.

A post from Dish Towel

Well...ok, so  I don't really have a reason for posting. I just figured I should post something because I haven't posted in FOREVER! I think I will ramble about what is new in my life.

1. I am taking summer classes. Family Finance and Statistics. The best news of all is....I have an A in both of those classes. If you know my relationship with Math you can understand how cool this is. It helps a ton that I have a wonderful Mike to help me out when the going gets tough.
2. My summer has been filled with all sorts of cool: Boating, Camping, 4th of July, Family get togethers, etc. I'm not even sure how I've been able to manage fitting in all those things to my busy schedule, but it's been happening.

3. My neighbor had a baby girl on Sunday. We went to the hospital and I got to hold a baby girl that was about 8 hours old at the time. Precious? Yes.

4.   Popsicles are delicious. And I happen to be the owner of a few varieties of Popsicles. They reside in my fridge, but not for long!

5. I just received a musical Oreo the other day. FOR FREE!!! (if you're not sure what this code is...ummm...welll...figure it out. Oreos are black and white, right? And music....well....music....)
6. I ate a yummy sandwich for lunch today. It had ham and cheese and lettuce and BACON!

That's all. The end.
Love, Dishtowel :)

Spring! ...I mean...winter???

Last week I was laying on the grass, doing my homework, and enjoying the sun. (Yeah. Fabulous!)
It looked just like this:

Welll...minus the flowers. I just thought they looked pretty welcoming in the picture :)

Not even a week later, we have snow. This isn't just a little bit of "spring" snow...we have, mmmmm, probably a foot of snow, and SLUSH! This all came in about the past 24 hours. CRAZY!

Cool thing is: The trees look fantastic and it's fun to jump in puddles of slush. (I just feel so powerful when I step in a pile of slush and it splashes to a different spot on the sidewalk....like I have way super cool magical powers or something.)

Not cool thing is: It's not warm annnnnnd when I spend long enough (like 2 minutes) walking in slush, my pants look like this:

I think I would like April to look like warm April instead of cold April, but I guess that's what I get for living in a place where weather like this is expected.
I'll just have to enjoy jumping in slush puddles while I can :)

-Enjoy any warm weather that you may have, sincerely, Dish Towel

Milk

We are all very aware (especially after watching this video) that there are many ways of saying the word "milk"

melk
milk
malk
mulk
muoooauoolk
...and the list goes on...

Well. I have one more form of saying this confusing word ("milk")...and I have a story to go with it. So, hold on tight, put your seat belts on, and get ready for a great story.

One day a beautiful princess ninja (that's me) was at work. (I decided it would be best to not mention who I am...cuz I feel this story will very easily give my "secret identity" away...resulting in it NOT being secret anymore. So...for the sake of this story, I am now "beautiful princess ninja")

This beautiful princess ninja was at work (at a daycare).
It was time for lunch and the beautiful princess ninja and all of her wonderful children were sitting down to eat.
Everyone ate.
and..everyone drank their milk.
Then,

THEN (this is the most exciting part),
One little girl asked a simple question, "Can I have some more milk please?"

BUT...

She did not say "milk" pronounced "milk"
She said "mirk" prouounced "mer (like mermaid) k (like....well, like "k"))
So...this is what I heard:

"Can I have some more merk please?"

Y0u may ask what is the moral of this story. What is the point of me telling you this?
Well, the moral of this story is simple: there are many ways to pronounce words (including milk) and we should not become violent over the fact that some people....just sound weird when they speak.
The End.

p.s. (Twoderful...and anyone else who will understand this): WE ARE...VI-LENT! ("O" taken out for emphasis)

The End (again).

I dedicate this to you...

I like music. I listen to music... because I like it. And when I am listening to said music I am often reminded of one of you. I smile as you flash through my mind, and then never tell you. So I am going to tell you. And you can imagine me smiling.

Just because I am only sharing one with you does not mean that there are not more, because there are. I am only sharing the one that means the most to me in my brain. There is a meaning behind each of these songs. And a story. That is why they were dedicated. Cause of a story.

To Lunch Pale: There was really only one that stood out and jumped up and down saying pick me pick me. New Perspective by Panic at the Disco.

To Zombie: As with Lunch Pale, there was really only one song that was epic enough for me to dedicate it to you. In my mind. Zombie by The Cranberries.

To Dishtowl: For you there was lots. Because there just is. I have a hard time choosing just one for you but I will. But I am also gonna mention honorable mentions. Because I can. The song I chose is Rainbow Veins by Owl City. Honorable mentions: Leave by Jojo.(I could not decide between Rainbow Veins or Leave. They were so close. Just saying.) Light up the Sky by Yellowcard. Annie by Safteysuit. Dark Blue by Jack's Mannequin. Viva La Vida by Coldplay. Just so you Know by Jesse McCartney. And any song ever by Owl City.

To Spooner: There was also a few for you that I had a hard time choosing but interesting enough they were all by two people. I hope you know which two of I am thinking because you will after you read which I dedicated to you. Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus. Honorable mentions: Just that Girl by Drew Seeley. (This is the only one that was not by 'those two' so I decided to mention this one.) Do you know who the second is?

To Love Dove. Yours was harder because we did not listen to music much together or discussed it much. But this one is cause. Well. It's cause. ;D Cooler Than Me by Mike Prosner.

To Sponge. Yours was also harder but not impossible. Since You've Been Gone by Kelley Clarkson.

I love you all! Cause what's not to love!

That was so funny I forgot to Laugh

Dear Sponge. Funny. I tried that. It does not work and I hate it. Maybe I shall just post my comments as a blog post themselves.
Zombie, I LOVE your last post. it made my insides smile.
Dish Towel-- um, what class was it??? lol. I am thinking I would like to be there if and when you don't catch yourself from sleepy commenting.
Love Dove, you are an inspiration. I love hearing how you set goals and are constantly trying to better yourself and those around you.
Spooner. I miss your face.
Twoderful. I love you and wish all to be well with you and your cones.

Sleep talking story #1

Attention to everyone who is excited for a laugh: This is gonna be good.
So...ya know how I randomly tend to talk in my sleep...or take pictures in my sleep...or other bizarre things in my sleep? Well, I decided to start posting those wonderful times on this blog.
Here is the most recent sleep event...

One day I was sleepy.
Actually I was very sleepy.
I was so sleepy that I started to doze of in class. (that doesn't take much)
But.
Good thing I'm talented and can listen while closing my eyes.
This was a good plan (sleeping) until the teacher asked a question...since I was sorta listening, I decided I wanted to respond to the question.
But.
This was a bad plan (answering the question)
Because I wasn't fully awake.
I was in that in between stage where I'm sleeping, but awake, but nothing makes sense when it comes out of my mouth.
Luckily I stopped myself just in time.
I did not make a half asleep comment in class.

Can you imagine how disastrous that would be???

Let me repeat that for emphasis...

CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW DISASTROUS THAT WOULD BE!?!?

Yeah. It would have been the worst thing ever.

Anyways, life is good. and. I am bound and determined not to sleep in class any time soon.

-Love ya, Dishtowel

Reunion!

Yesterday was an amazing day. As many of you know....I'M GETTING MARRIED! woo woo! Marriage means I get to live with my amazing Mike for the rest of eternity. Marriage means that I get to see Mike every day instead of every weekend. Marriage means I get to move. Marriage means Mike and I will get to create and live in our own fairytale. Marriage means a lot, BUT marriage also means....BRIDAL SHOWERS!!!

Bridal Shower #1
I won't go into too many details, but this is why I love Mike...(thanks to Twoderful and mad lib)

He is always hot and very squishy hearted in all that he does with me.
He jumps my door.
He doesn't just snuggle what he wants. He is always sliding out for the benefits there are for boogers.
He is a giraffe scout and a return Missionary.
He gives me caterpillars, is spontaneous, plans mountain activities, and "blah blah blah's" to me all the time! (it's the sweet things that make a slimy difference)
He always asks for my couch. When we make a decision, it's truly a joint decision because he takes the time to kiss my point of view.
He sings and plays the piano. and I love to just slap down at the piano and tumble with him.
He loves my family and my family loves him.
He's not starry to try something new. He's very purplish with sports and outdoor activities.
'Mike' is happy with life. He looks on the soft side of things and helps me to see the crunchy when I am feeling down.
I love that he is so service oriented.
He has a very tough love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and shows it in the way he lives.

After the bridal shower: Lunch Pail, Twoderful, Zombie, Sponge, Spooner and I went to the...hmmm....we'll call it the: Silver Fork. (We were together, minus Love Dove, and we wish she could have been with us). Oh yeah, it snowed...a buttload! (If you don't know how much a buttload is...well, I'll just turn around and show you.) We did not eat snow, we ate soft serve snow with yumminess. It was goooood. (p.s. This is the part that applies to the title of this blog: Reunion. fyi)

The End.

Love

Love.
I have love in my life.

I haven't updated the blog in so long....but listen up cuz this is important! "DISH TOWEL" IS IN LOVE WITH "MIKE"!

Fairytale (made into real life)
Once upon a time there was a girl named Dish Towel and a boy named Mike. These two wonderful individuals were living their lives oblivious to what their hearts were missing. Thank goodness Mike has a sister who is brilliant. She figured out a way to invite Mike to play Ultimate Frisbee with Dish Towel. After Dish Towel and Mike met, they decided to go on a date...and then another...and then another...and then they held hands...and then they kissed...and then their relationship grew to what it is now. Love. Yes indeed. Now they are planning on getting married in the castle on the hill in the snowy month of cold. They will be married, move to their own mini castle and create many adventures for today, our lives, and the rest of forever.
Question: Can I handle forever? Answer: Yes!

The End.

Wedding plans are crazy and I'm still waiting to have the glimmer on my finger....but no worries, updates will be coming soon.
